Documentary wedding photography
Until quite recently wedding photography almost always consisted of posed photographs.
But there’s more to a wedding than posing for staged photographs, that can turn a wedding into one long photoshoot.
I always prefer to capture the amusing, emotional and tender moments at a wedding. The parts of a wedding you won’t see unless they’re photographed.
And I really like black and white photography. I don’t always get to take black and white photographs as an editorial and commercial photographer but I think it’s ideally suited to weddings. That’s not to say I won’t take any colour photographs. There will always be certain photographs I take that look better in colour.
I use small discreet quiet cameras and try to blend in as much as possible. That enables to me to capture unguarded moments. If your guests ask whether you had a professional photographer at your wedding it means that I’ve really blended in and become almost invisible.
If you want a photographer that’s going to produce lots of posed romantic soft focus images, I’m probably not the photographer for you. But if you want a photographer that will capture the realistic and natural moments that tell the story of your wedding…that’s me.
